Seeds of our Potential

We are seeds of our future selves. Today’s thoughts grow into tomorrow’s actions which grow into next week’s patterns which grow into our ultimate realities. We have no control of the greater forces at play, yet we have total control of how we fit into that bigger picture.

It begins in the mind. Are we aware of our thoughts and their sources? These are the seeds of our actions, patterns, and realities.

I am not the field in which seeds are planted; I am the knower of the field. A seed grows into a plant that lays roots into the foundation of who we are, making changes in our trajectory. The spirit lives in the center between who we were and who we will be. The spirit is the knower of the field (Bhagavadgita, Chapter 11).

  1. Have an intention

  2. Reflect on your past

  3. Articulate your heart’s desires

  4. Look into the future, see yourself in it

  5. Sit in the center of your circumstances

  6. Take a risk and step into your vision

  7. Make a deal with yourself and trust the process

  8. Follow through with purpose

  9. Achieve it and feel gratitude for the view

  10. Have a full circle moment

The above references the Magic Square of Katonah Yoga as a map to change one’s reality using the process of goal setting and intentional action or Karma Yoga. We are human beings, not human doings, but we must do in order to arrive at the reality in which we can just be.

I’ve wanted to delete my social media apps for a while, as an attempt to further re-wire my mind and spend more time in the present moment. That time has come. I’ve made the intention, I’ve visualized myself in it, and it’s time to delete those apps and make a commitment with myself.

I want to take more responsibility of the seeds that are being planted in my field. I don’t want my mind being filled with thoughts that aren’t mine. So it’s time for a subtle change. I’ll be deleting social media apps for some time.

I can’t discount the benefits that social media has brought me. I’ve found so much real life connection through these apps and it’s given me an outlet to share meaningful musings, insights, and dialogues. I’ll probably be back at some point. Until then, I am wishing you nothing but peace and blessings.

Love,

Ben
