Self Portrait Diaries: October 2023

Creativity is like medicine to me. When I need a shift, or if things feel heavy, the answer is to create. It could be anything, but for me it’s almost always through photography or movement. A valuable lesson I’ve learned as a creative is to go ahead and create even when the juices aren’t flowing. Even when there are no ideas in the tank — no lightbulbs illuminating the attic.

Inspiration is everywhere if we slow down enough to witness it. Just go outside or open a book or perform a random act of kindness. I recommend creating with non-attachment, patience, and the knowledge that if all you do is show up again and again, something beautiful will come of it. Trust.
