your teachers:

Chelsey Forbes is a lover + Katonah Yoga teacher. Her classes are a playfully cosmic charcuterie board of sound, breath, and movement recipes that reference ancient Yogic texts and soma. First introduced to Yoga during childhood illness & trauma, she began a search for ways that kept the inner child safe, in awe, and liberated from the confines of the human mind. She has studied with many influential teachers from different lineages since 2017 and is committed to inclusivity and accessibility in the classroom and beyond. Chelsey is a court jester and jack of all trades. She leads various trainings, retreats + 1:1 therapeutic practices online and around the world.

Ben Kalra believes in the slow-burning nature of Yoga as a transformative life practice. The core of his teachings sits in classical Yoga philosophy, and he remains in self-study of the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, and Upanishads. His classes integrate these philosophies with a creative yet structured approach to āsana that weaves Katonah Yoga with modern vinyasa. Expect to chant sacred mantras, breathe slowly, move well, and maybe laugh at a silly joke. He helps students cultivate a meaningful practice through storytelling, metaphor, props, adjustments, and silence.

Daily Flow:

  • Start your day slowly and wake up with the sun. Enjoy seasonal organic fruit and sip coffee or tea while taking in the surrounding landscape.

  • This is the heart of the retreat. Chelsey or Ben will lead a soulful two-hour practice consisting of asana, mantra, pranayama, and meditation. Open your body, attune your mind, embrace your spirit.

  • Come for the Yoga, stay for the food. Ingredients are locally sourced, seasonal, organic, and plant-based. There will also be fresh fruit, herbal teas, coffee, and filtered water available throughout the day.

  • The world is your oyster. You could use this time to:

    • relax by the pool

    • book a massage

    • stare into the mountains

    • wander the property’s gardens & hills

    • take a cold plunge

    • read a novel (or three)

    • chat with a new friend

    • drive to a waterfall, beach, or nearby town

  • A slower practice crafted to regulate your nervous system, release physical tension, send your breath deeper into your body, and tap into your inner vibration. Expect long holds, storytelling, and spaciousness.

  • If Morning Sādhana is the heart of the retreat, the dinner table is the soul. Share a family-style meal with your Sangha and engage in communal dialogue. Once the sun goes down and conversations simmer, enjoy a deep slumber and do it all again tomorrow :)

Come for the spiritual practice.

Stay for the joy + community.

Chelsey and Ben are both devoted full-time teachers with an insurmountable love for Yoga in all its forms. They’re Katonah Yoga teachers who equally value a functional physical practice and an insightful spiritual journey. They approach the practice with sincerity and reverence, yet they’re known to tell a funny story during a dharma talk. After crossing paths for years in trainings and classes, they realized that they’re on the same wavelength and began dreaming up a retreat together. C+B are a dynamic duo; they’re honored to lead this retreat together and excited to meet the amazing group of people that will resonate with this offering.

Your Home for the Week:

Our retreat center is located in the heart of the Andalusian countryside, surrounded by olive groves and beautiful mountains, but only one hour from the Malaga airport. Given the rural location, renting a car is highly recommended.

There are many hidden gems to discover in the surrounding countryside including natural springs, waterfalls, and caves. There are also many places within an hour’s drive of the center, including Malaga and Granada, where you can visit the awe-inspiring Alhambra Palace or watch a traditional Spanish Flamenco performance.

The nearest villages of Cuesta la Palma and Salinas are a 10 minute drive away where you will find some local shops and cafes. The nearest supermarkets can be found in the towns of Loja or Archidona, both around 20 minutes away.

Here are directions from the Malaga Airport, Seville, and the nearest Supermarket.

Nearby Places of Interest:

  • Iznajar reservoir (20 min drive). One of Spains largest reservoirs.  Swim, take in the scenery and enjoy some fantastic traditional food in one of the local restaurants.

  • Granada city, Alhambra palace (45 min drive). The historical city of Granada, home to the Alhambra palace, beautiful architecture and amazing tapas.

  • Malaga/Torremolinos beaches (45 min drive). Sandy beaches and beachside restaurants serving traditional sardines and other fresh seafood
