Being a Teacher of Teachers
Being a teacher is an honor; being a teacher of teachers is the greatest honor.
Congrats to the second cohort of graduates from The Coterie Wellness Studio’s 200-hour YTT. Now there are 20 new teachers, each with their own voice, story, community, and expression of yoga. The more people practicing, the better. The world needs it.
Yoga saved my life twice. First when I became a student, and again when I became a teacher.
As a student, it cracked open my inner world. I was 21, depressed, isolated, directionless. I was suffering. Yoga showed me how to inhabit my own body and mind without feeling swallowed by either. It showed me that a connected life was possible.
When i started teaching, it gave me purpose. My biggest fear was that life wouldn’t have meaning; that I’d never find my Svadharma. Teaching gave me something bigger than myself to devote my life to, and that changed everything.
If you devote yourself to yoga, yoga gives back tenfold. It’s not a quick fix or a life hack, but a slow, arduous road toward truth. It won’t make life easier, but it will give you the tools to change your life when you’re ready.
Thank you to my teachers for teaching me. Thank you to my students for letting me teach you. This exchange is the most sacred thing I know.
One thing i can promise is that I’ll be doing this for as long as I’m alive. And if I’m lucky, I’ll carry on in the next life too. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
